Loft Conversions London
This loft conversion is a good example of a mid-terrace loft conversion in London. The project was completed in June 2008 with the loft conversion planning taking three months to achieve and a construction period of six weeks.
With the property being a third floor flat planning restrictions were imposed upon the loft conversion size by Camden Borough Council. This amounted to a three quarter width dormer with the rear elevation set slightly off the rear of the property but given the buildings relatively large dimensions this still equated to a new double bedroom with ensuite and a generously sized study.
One of our in house architects undertook the loft conversion design and the property owners are very pleased with the new living space we have helped to create. The ensuite is positioned under the roadside slope which we will often try to achieve as doing so allows a larger bedroom whilst making good use of what can sometimes be an otherwise awkward space to use.
The main feature of this London loft conversion is without a doubt the open tread oak staircase. The treads are solid oak and the balustrade is plasterboard constructed with an oak capping with a cleverly designed negative detailing. There is landing halfway up which also incorporates a glass floor. Features such as this obviously come at a slight premium but can really define a loft conversion in London.
